Canelo Alvarez fights Christian Mbilli on Saturday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The bout is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. Eastern Time and will air on DAZN pay-per-view. It marks Alvarez's first time entering a fight as a title challenger since May 2022.

Alvarez enters the ring with a record of 63 wins, three losses, and two draws. He has stopped 39 opponents by knockout. His last bout was a unanimous decision loss to Terence Crawford in September 2025. Mbilli holds a record of 29 wins, one loss, and one draw. He has 24 knockouts and has never lost a fight.

The champion took the WBC interim title by defeating Maciej Sulecki in June 2025. He then drew with Lester Martinez by split decision in September. The WBC elevated Mbilli to full champion status in January after stripping the belt from Crawford. Although Alvarez is shorter and has less reach, bookmakers list him as the favorite. DraftKings odds show Alvarez at -330 to win the fight.

The two boxers have very different styles. CompuBox data shows Mbilli averages 78 punches per round. That figure is 27 punches higher than the division average of 51. Alvarez is more economical, averaging only 35.1 punches per round. Mbilli throws more power punches as well, averaging 57.7 per round. He lands 26.6 of those. Alvarez throws 19.6 power punches and lands 8.8.

Both fighters show high accuracy when they do connect. Over a 12 round distance, Alvarez connects on 44.9% of his power punches. Mbilli connects on 46.1%. The division average for that metric is 36.1%. Defense also plays a role. Opponents land 31.2% of their power punches against Alvarez. That is the sixth best rate among super middleweight contenders and champions.

Alvarez has more title experience. He turned professional in October 2005 at age 15. He has fought in 28 major title fights with a record of 25 wins and three losses. Mbilli has never fought for a full world title. He has competed twice for interim belts. The two men have no common opponents in their 98 combined professional fights.

Neither fighter has ever been knocked down. It has been 13 months since both last competed. Mbilli's draw with Martinez took place on the undercard of the Crawford fight in Las Vegas. Both boxers struggle with the jab. Mbilli lands 3.8 jabs per round, while Alvarez lands 3.5. The division average for jabs landed is 4.2 per round.
