Kim Kardashian appeared in a hospital bed in a preview for an upcoming episode of The Kardashians, revealing that doctors removed irregularities from her esophagus. The 46-year-old media personality spoke with her mother while recovering from the medical procedure.
She told viewers she had not shared the diagnosis with many people because she did not want to discuss the condition publicly. Kardashian noted that the issue weighs heavily on her mind given her father’s history. Robert Kardashian, who served on the legal team for O.J. Simpson, died of esophagus cancer in 2003 at the age of 59.
A doctor diagnosed Kardashian with esophagitis during this week’s episode of the reality series. The National Institutes of Health defines esophagitis as inflammation or injury to the lining of the esophagus. The agency notes that the condition has many causes and that treatments vary for each patient.
The NIH study states that different types of esophagitis can present similarly, often requiring detailed medical history and diagnostic tests. These tests include endoscopy and histopathology examinations to determine the specific type of injury.
In the preview for the next episode, Kardashian said the doctor identified irregularities in her esophagus that needed to be cut out. She described the condition as the same type her father had. The star previously revealed in a 2025 episode that she was diagnosed with a small brain aneurysm, which she attributed to stress.
The new episode of The Kardashians airs on Thursday. The preview serves as an early look at the storyline, showing Kardashian’s reaction to the diagnosis and the planned surgical intervention.
