Apple released version 27.2 of its operating systems on Sunday, delivering major changes to its Siri assistant across iOS, macOS, and other platforms. The update focuses on expanding the artificial intelligence capabilities of the digital voice assistant.

The new Siri features allow the system to recall past conversations and reference them during new interactions. It also grants access to additional data sources, including voicemails and file attachments within Messages. Users can now control this access through a new setting called Excluded Apps, which determines which applications Siri, Search, and system suggestions can read.

Siri AI is now available in French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish, in addition to English. The feature remains unavailable in Europe and mainland China. The release also introduces context-aware suggestions in Messages, such as converting event invitations directly into calendar entries. Other additions include SynthID watermarking support in the Photos app and user profile support in the Apple TV app.

The macOS Golden Gate 27.2 update mirrors these changes, providing Siri with contextual memory and the new language options. The Apple Watch and visionOS also received the updated Music branding and language support. References to new gesture recognition capabilities appeared in beta releases for macOS, suggesting potential touch support for the next MacBook Pro. Apple has scheduled a public briefing for Wednesday to discuss upcoming hardware.

The iOS 27.2 update is currently available for iPhone 16 models and later, as well as the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. The company also updated the Apple Music logo as part of the release.
