Four out of five Chicago Sun-Times experts picked the Seattle Seahawks to defeat the Chicago Bears on Monday night, a split that reflects the difficulty of predicting the defending Super Bowl champions.
Jason Lieser, Patrick Finley, Steve Greenberg, and Jeff Agrest all favored Seattle. Finley projected a 20-17 win, while Greenberg called the game the Bears' toughest test of the season.
Agrest cited quarterback Caleb Williams' inconsistent performance as a key factor in his 24-14 Seahawks prediction. Williams posted passer ratings above 110 in three of his four games, but recorded a 56.2 mark against the Vikings.
Scoop Jackson was the lone Bears supporter, predicting a 32-30 victory. Jackson noted that Seattle has lost one game they were expected to win against Washington and argued the team might only lose one more predicted win this season.
Context for the panel's picks includes the Seahawks' recent dominance over the previously unbeaten Kansas City Chiefs, who were held to three points. The Bears last played Seattle in a regular season game that was shut down by three inches of snow, a match Nick Foles led to a victory.
