The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced a recall for Wise Wife Brand Ground Cinnamon on Thursday. The company is voluntarily removing the product from the market because tests detected elevated levels of lead.

SLR Food Distribution Inc. identified 110-gram clear plastic containers with black screw-top caps as the affected items. The specific lot has a best-before date of April 25, 2027, and carries the UPC code 0688474302754 on the back label. The cinnamon was available in retail and grocery stores across 14 states.

The affected regions include Connecticut, Indiana, Kansas, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, Nebraska, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin. Sales of this specific product occurred between September 8, 2025, and June 28, 2026.

The recall notice states that lead exposure can impact nearly every bodily system. Symptoms depend on the dosage, duration of exposure, and the individual’s age and weight. The agency noted that low-level, short-term exposure may not produce immediate symptoms. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this recall.

Consumers are advised not to consume the recalled product. Individuals can throw the item away or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. The company is leading the voluntary effort to remove the stock from shelves ahead of the holiday season.
