The World Series has reached a historic crossroads after the Tampa Bay Rays defeated the Milwaukee Brewers in twelve innings on Tuesday night. The victory prevents the Rays from being swept and sets the stage for a Game 5 matchup at Tropicana Field on Wednesday.

The Rays trailed 3-0 in the series but took Game 4 in dramatic fashion. Cooper Pratt hit a tiebreaking home run off Ian Seymour in the top of the 12th inning to give Milwaukee a 3-2 lead. The Brewers had built a 10-1 victory in Game 3 and held a commanding series lead heading into the final frame.

Tampa Bay responded in the bottom of the 12th after a throwing error by third baseman Joey Ortiz on Junior Caminero's leadoff grounder. Liam Hicks singled against Shane Drohan, and Jonny DeLuca drove in pinch-runner Cedric Mullins with a single to center. The score tied at 3 with the bases loaded when Chandler Simpson reached on a single.

Pinch-hitter Ben Williamson ended the game with a chopper over first baseman Jake Bauers into right field. The hit scored Nick Fortes, who was pinch-running for Hicks. Williamson had previously struggled in the postseason, batting 1-for-15 before this hit. He credited the ball finding a hole in the infield to secure the win.

Manager Kevin Cash noted that the team needed every player to contribute to survive the deficit. He praised Nick Martinez, who pitched two relief innings on short rest, for maintaining the team's energy in the dugout. Martinez allowed one hit and struck out one batter during his appearance.

Junior Caminero left the game with an ailing left foot but plans to play in Game 5. Cash stated that Caminero would play on one leg if necessary. The Rays became only the fifth team in World Series history to win Game 4 after trailing 3-0. Of the 43 teams in postseason history to overcome a 3-0 deficit in any best-of-seven series, only the Boston Red Sox in 2004 succeeded in winning the series.

Milwaukee ended an eight-game winning streak with the loss. The Brewers had advanced by eliminating the Los Angeles Dodgers in four games. David Hamilton also homered for Milwaukee, while Jackson Chourio reached base twice. Aaron Ashby broke the record for scoreless relief innings in a single postseason with 18 scoreless innings, surpassing Andrew Miller's 16 from 2016.

The crowd at Tropicana Field numbered 40,514, with many Milwaukee fans waving yellow towels and wearing cheesehead hats. Pratt, a 22-year-old rookie, became the first rookie to hit an extra-inning home run in the World Series. His go-ahead homer in the 12th inning had briefly silenced the home crowd before the Rays' rally.
