Musk Injects Massive Funds Into Texas Senate Race Ahead Of Midterms
America PAC received a new infusion of cash from Elon Musk to support Republican candidates in the final weeks of the election.

Elon Musk has directed more than $76 million to his personal political committee, America PAC, during the first fortnight of October. This significant financial transfer aims to bolster Republican efforts in the closing stretch of the midterm elections. The funding was disclosed in a pre-election report filed with the Federal Election Commission on Thursday evening, marking a major increase in activity as the race enters its final phase.
The committee utilized nearly $43 million of these funds in that same two-week period. By the end of the filing period, the organization retained approximately $47 million in cash reserves. This liquidity allows for continued aggressive spending as election day approaches, ensuring the group remains a dominant force in the political landscape.
The Texas Senate contest attracted the largest share of these new expenditures. The PAC allocated $15.2 million to that specific race, which is double the amount spent there over the entire summer. Of this total, $12.4 million was directed toward attacking Democratic candidate James Talarico, while $2.8 million supported Republican contender Ken Paxton. Subsequent daily filings indicate an additional $9.1 million has been spent against Talarico since the initial report. Consequently, total spending against the Democratic candidate this cycle now approaches $28 million, representing roughly 40 percent of all funds the PAC has deployed for candidate support or opposition.
A shift in advertising strategy is also evident in the new data. The PAC spent $11.4 million on digital advertisements during the two-week window. This figure is nearly equal to the combined amount spent on mailers and text messages, signaling a pivot toward online outreach to voters.
Musk’s total contributions to Republican political entities this election cycle have surpassed $445 million, per an analysis of FEC records. This makes him the largest known individual donor in the current midterms. Of that sum, more than $165 million has been routed to America PAC since July. The organization did not provide a statement in response to inquiries about the new filings.
The financial backing complements Musk’s active digital presence in the campaign. On Wednesday, he posted on the social platform X that there is something deeply wrong with Talarico. He further described the Democrat as a creep and claimed without evidence that Talarico would vote to take away children and transition them. Earlier in the month, Musk amplified a false claim that Talarico had received treatment at a mental health facility. Talarico responded on social media, stating there is something deeply wrong with a political system that allows one trillionaire to buy his own personal U.S. Senator.
The race remains closely contested. An Emerson College poll of 1,000 likely Texas voters, conducted from October 17 to 19, placed Talarico at 48 percent and Paxton at 46 percent. This difference falls within the survey’s three-point margin of error. Beyond Texas, the outcome carries significant implications for Musk’s businesses. Democratic leaders in the House have indicated they would investigate his role in the Department of Government Efficiency, his federal contracts, and potential conflicts of interest. A letter from Silicon Valley Democrats also targeted restrictions on SpaceX’s Starshield satellite service in Ukraine, vowing to scrutinize federal funding awarded to Musk’s companies in the next Congress.
