Hilario Dominguez is the target of most outside spending in the Chicago school board president race. The contest pits him against Jessica Biggs and Victor Henderson. Millions of dollars have flowed into the campaign. The bulk of that money aims to defeat Dominguez.

The spending surge coincides with a closed investigation. It examined allegations of inappropriate behavior involving a 17-year-old. Dominguez worked with the nonprofit Resurrection Project at the time. The news of the investigation prompted 16 Chicago alderpeople to call for an independent review.

FOX Chicago’s Brandon Pope interviewed Dominguez this week. The discussion covered priorities for Chicago Public Schools. It also addressed efforts to secure funding from Springfield. Pope asked how Dominguez would handle a $150 million budget gap. This gap would appear if the district does not secure that state funding.

The race has drawn significant attention in recent days. Questions about funding and the investigation dominate the news cycle. Outside groups continue to spend heavily to shape the outcome.

Biggs is scheduled to speak with Fox Chicago on Thursday. Pope has also requested an interview with Henderson’s campaign. Both candidates will address the issues raised by their rivals and outside donors.
